๐ฆทย IMPLANT DISCUSSION | Immediate Loading vs. Delayed Loading
For clinicians placing dental implants, how do you decide when to immediately load an implant versus waiting for conventional healing?
Is your decision primarily based onย insertion torque, ISQ values, bone quality, implant stability, or patient-specific risk factors?
And have you changed your approach over the years based on clinical outcomes?
๐ย Let's hear from the implant community.ย Share your experience and clinical perspective below.
๐ฆทย Clinical Discussion: How much has 3D imaging changed your implant planning?
2D radiographs can hide important anatomy through superimposition, while CBCT allows clinicians to evaluate structures such as theย inferior alveolar canal, mental foramen, maxillary sinus, and available bone in 3D.
For those placing implants:
Are there still situations where youโre comfortable planning from 2D imaging alone, or has CBCT become standard for virtually every implant case in your practice?
Curious to hear how different clinicians approach this โ especially for straightforward single-tooth cases versus more complex implant surgery.

๐ฃ๏ธ MONDAY PROFESSIONAL DISCUSSION
Dental implants have become increasingly accessible โ but are we placing too many of them?
With advances in implant dentistry, digital workflows, and immediate treatment protocols, replacing a questionable tooth with an implant has become more predictable than ever.
But where should we draw the line?
When a compromised natural tooth still has a reasonable prognosis, do you favor:
๐ฆท Saving the natural tooth whenever possible
๐ฉ Extraction and implant placement when long-term predictability favors it
โ๏ธ Evaluating every case individually with no default approach
At what point do YOU decide a tooth is no longer worth saving?

Are Dental Practices Becoming Too Dependent on Insurance?
DRN Professional Discussion
For decades, dental insurance has played a major role in helping patients access care and helping practices maintain a steady flow of patients. But as the economics of dentistry continue to change, more practice owners are asking an important question:
Are dental practices becoming too dependent on insurance?
The Pressure Is Growing
The cost of operating a dental practice continues to rise. Staffing, supplies, laboratory fees, technology, rent, and other overhead expenses have all placed additional pressure on practice owners.
At the same time, many dentists feel that insurance reimbursements have not kept pace with those increasing costs.
The result can put practices in a difficult position: provide care at today's costs while being reimbursed according to fee schedules that may not reflect today's economics.
And reimbursement is only part of the conversation.
Insurance participation can also bring additional administrative responsibilities, including claim submissions, pre-authorizations, documentation requirements, eligibility verification, appeals, and collections.
For some practices, managing insurance has become a significant part of running the business.
Is Fee-for-Service the Answer?
Some dentists are responding by reducing their participation with PPO plans or transitioning toward a more fee-for-service model.
The potential advantages are attractive: greater control over fees, fewer insurance restrictions, less administrative burden, and potentially more freedom when discussing treatment with patients.
But leaving insurance networks isn't necessarily easy.
Patients may have become accustomed to using their benefits, and practices must consider how changes in participation could affect patient retention, new-patient acquisition, and case acceptance.
For many offices, the answer may not be completely insurance-based or completely fee-for-service.
A hybrid approach may ultimately provide the right balance.
The Bigger Question
Every dental practice has a different patient population, overhead structure, market, and business model. There may not be one strategy that works for everyone.
But as the economics of dentistry evolve, understanding the true impact of insurance participation is becoming increasingly important.
Practice owners should know what each insurance plan actually contributes to their businessโnot simply how many patients it brings through the door.

We analysed more than 500 medical tourism clinics to answer one simple question:
Where are international patient enquiries being lost?
Over the past few months, we've reviewed websites, enquiry journeys, response times, multilingual support, patient follow-up and the technology clinics are using to convert enquiries into consultations.
Some of the findings were surprising.
โข Most clinics still don't have a conversational AI patient coordinator on their website.
โข Slow response times continue to cost clinics high-value international patients.
โข Many enquiries still rely on manual WhatsApp conversations with little or no structured follow-up.
โข Significant opportunities exist to improve conversion without increasing marketing spend.
The State of Medical Tourism Report 2026 brings together our findings, industry research and practical recommendations that clinics can implement to improve the international patient experience and increase conversions.

3 Numbers Every Dental Practice Owner Should Know
Running a successful dental practice isn't just about providing excellent clinical careโit's about understanding the numbers that drive growth.
Here are three key metrics every practice owner should monitor:
๐ Monthly Collections
Track the revenue your practice collects each month to measure financial performance and growth.
๐ฅ New Patients
A healthy flow of new patients is essential for long-term success and practice expansion.
โ
Case Acceptance
Treatment plans only create value when patients move forward with care. Monitoring case acceptance can uncover opportunities to improve communication and increase production.
